Monitor the temperature of virtually anything

Remote temperature monitoring continues to be the most popular Internet of Things (IoT) solution across many use cases. Global enterprises trust Monnit Standard Temperature Sensors to protect equipment, inventory, and personnel.

It’s critical to know the temperature of a wide variety of things like food, motors, coolers, rooms, water, trucks, grow houses, and more so you can predict maintenance and prevent problems. Monnit Sensors issue an alert via text, email, or call when the temperature exceeds preset thresholds set in cloud-based software.

Monnit’s Wireless Temperature Sensor outputs the ambient temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. The sensor's programmed to sleep for a user-given time interval (heartbeat) and then wake up. Then, it sends power to the NTC thermistor and waits for it to stabilise to convert the analogue data, mathematically compute the temperature, and transmit the data to the gateway. The sensor's processor is programmed to calculate the temperature based on an internal data table. The Standard Temperature Sensor also implements and configures a variable resistor over specified temperature ranges to reduce error. An industry-leading 25-month NIST certification is available on leaded Monnit Temperature Sensors

Reduce risk

Working in industrial environments with potentially explosive atmospheres can be highly hazardous. IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres. The IECEx System facilitates international trade in equipment and services used in hazardous areas to address the risk of fires or explosions from flammable gases or dust.

There’s a risk to workers in many industries prone to producing explosive atmospheres. When flammable gases, mist, vapors, or dust mix with air, explosive atmospheres occur, and the slightest spark can set them off. The dangers aren’t only prevalent in the petrochemical industry but also in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food processing, power generation, construction, architectural woodworking, and more.
Monnit provides a growing IECEx-certified Internet of Things (IoT) product line with award-winning1 ALTA-ISX Wireless Sensors to work safely in hazardous industrial environments within potentially explosive atmospheres.

Monnit’s ISX Long-Range Wireless Sensors are IECEx-certified2 under code: Ex ib IIA T3 Gb. Essentially, the IECEx-certified sensors are used in IEC Zone 1 areas where explosive industrial atmospheres of IEC group IIA gases (propane or similar) may be present.
These ALTA-ISX Sensors are not only certified as intrinsically safe in explosive atmospheres of group IIA and hazardous Zone 1 environments, but they’re also:

  • Incapable of causing a spark or reaching a temperature (class T3) that could ignite an explosive atmosphere comprising a range of group IIA gases or dust
  • Able to be used in many industrial applications worldwide where combustible gases (group IIA) may be present in Zone 1 areas

1 Monnit won the 2022 Industrial IoT Product of the Year Award and the 2022 IoT Innovator Award for its ALTA-ISX Sensors.
2 Review an explanation of the IECEx safety code and use requirements in the safety manuals of each Monnit ALTA-ISX Sensor.

Monnit Gateway Options

An integral component of any IoT network is the gateway. A gateway device allows for data from sensors to be transmitted to the iMonnit software platform.

Monnit Ethernet Wireless Gateway 4

Monnit’s Ethernet Gateways allow your Monnit Wireless Sensors to communicate with the iMonnit™ Online Wireless Sensor Monitoring and Notification System without the need for a PC. Simply provide power and plug the gateway into an open Ethernet network port with an internet connection. It will then automatically connect with our online servers, providing the perfect solution for commercial locations where there is an active internet connection.

Monnit 4G + Ethernet IoT Gateway

The ALTA® by Monnit Wireless IoT Gateway combines a 4G LTE CAT-M1/NB2 cellular engine and Ethernet platform with Monnit’s wireless access point network to aggregate and communicate data from Monnit ALTA Wireless Sensors. The ALTA IoT Gateway allows ALTA Sensors to operate on the world’s leading cellular networks and stay connected to the Internet. The gateway uses AC main power but also has redundant power through a battery backup lasting up to 60 hours.

To meet the global demand for enterprise IoT deployment, the IoT Gateway communicates with the cloud-based iMonnit® monitoring software via cellular transmission, making it ideal for remote locations or where the Internet isn’t available. The RJ-45 Ethernet jack allows local device configuration, diagnostics, and connectivity backup. The IoT Gateway is instrumental in sending sensor notifications via text, email, or call if user-defined conditions are met or exceeded.
