Large or small, track it all

Monnit’s AC Current Meters install quickly to provide insights on machine health or system performance via current usage. These sensors track the minimum, maximum, and average RMS current, as well as amp hours. If power consumption spikes or plummets beyond user-defined limits, an alert is sent via text, email, or call.

A must for the bottom line, Monnit’s current meters remotely monitor the electricity flowing to a machine or system. If consumption rises, machinery may be working harder due to overdue maintenance, an ailing component, or looming failure. If it drops, there may be a supply issue. Either way, Wireless Current Meters will alert you instantly via email, call, or text.

Monnit’s AC Current Meter measures the RMS current of an alternating current (AC) system using a current transformer (CT) that wraps around the ‘hot’ wire of a two wire (hot, common, ground(optional)) power system. The sensor reports Minimum RMS current, maximum RMS current, average RMS current, and amp hours to the iMonnit system. The iMonnit system is capable of generating watt hour or kilowatt hour readings as well as:

  • Data logging for accumulated amp hour readings
  • Can notify based on current levels or changes in current levels
  • Simple and safe installation of current/power measurement hardware, no rewiring required

Keep an eye on your devices

This AC Current meter is available with two different current transducers:

  • Low Current: 0-20 amp
  • Medium Current: 0-150 amp

To measure current, clip the CT around only a single wire of the AC system (clipping around a hot and neutral wire at the same time will result in 0 current readings). After the sensor powers on and connects to the gateway it will begin taking measurements based on the averaging interval (5 seconds default). It will report data to iMonnit every heartbeat or if the current goes outside of the aware thresholds set in iMonnit. The sensor reports amp hours, max RMS current, min RMS current, and average RMS current. iMonnit can also generate watt hour or kilowatt hour readings if a default RMS voltage is set in iMonnit.

This sensor comes with an industrial battery included with the life of up to 7 years

All industrial sensors are enclosed in a reliable, weatherproof NEMA-rated enclosure that are constructed for both indoor and outdoor use. These rugged enclosures protect the sensor circuitry against;

  • Falling dirt
  • Wind-blown dust
  • Rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose-directed water
  • Ice formation on the enclosure
  • Increased resistance to corrosion

WARNING: This AC current meter is for monitoring AC voltage only. Do Not Use with DC voltage.

Monnit Gateway Options

An integral component of any IoT network is the gateway. A gateway device allows for data from sensors to be transmitted to the iMonnit software platform.

Monnit Ethernet Wireless Gateway 4

Monnit’s Ethernet Gateways allow your Monnit Wireless Sensors to communicate with the iMonnit™ Online Wireless Sensor Monitoring and Notification System without the need for a PC. Simply provide power and plug the gateway into an open Ethernet network port with an internet connection. It will then automatically connect with our online servers, providing the perfect solution for commercial locations where there is an active internet connection.

Monnit 4G + Ethernet IoT Gateway

The ALTA® by Monnit Wireless IoT Gateway combines a 4G LTE CAT-M1/NB2 cellular engine and Ethernet platform with Monnit’s wireless access point network to aggregate and communicate data from Monnit ALTA Wireless Sensors. The ALTA IoT Gateway allows ALTA Sensors to operate on the world’s leading cellular networks and stay connected to the Internet. The gateway uses AC main power but also has redundant power through a battery backup lasting up to 60 hours.

To meet the global demand for enterprise IoT deployment, the IoT Gateway communicates with the cloud-based iMonnit® monitoring software via cellular transmission, making it ideal for remote locations or where the Internet isn’t available. The RJ-45 Ethernet jack allows local device configuration, diagnostics, and connectivity backup. The IoT Gateway is instrumental in sending sensor notifications via text, email, or call if user-defined conditions are met or exceeded.
