OVERVIEW
Soil health data is only useful if it’s reliable over the life of a study, and sensors that degrade or drift within a season create more problems than they solve. The MX2307A addresses this directly with a LI-300/350 volumetric water content (VMC)/ soil electrical conductivity (EC) sensors, arriving pre-attached and ready to deploy without separate sensor setup.
The logger measures soil electrical conductivity, volumetric water content and soil temperature externally, with internal temperature and RH giving a fuller read on soil, plant and atmospheric conditions from one device. It works across both mineral soils and soilless media (an important distinction for growers running potting mixes or hydroponic substrates), and data can be viewed as Percent of Field Capacity for a more practical read on irrigation timing.
Configuration and data retrieval run through the free HOBOconnect app over Bluetooth. It’s a direct upgrade from the MX2306 and MX2307: same core use case, sturdier sensor, longer service life, and the addition of internal temperature/RH monitoring.
Key features
- Pre-attached LI-300/350 VMC/EC soil sensor, ready to deploy without separate sensor setup
- Soil sensor rated for over 10 years in the field
- Suited to both mineral soils and soilless growing media
- Stainless-steel spikes for straightforward installation and reliable soil contact
- Internal temperature and RH monitoring alongside external soil data
- View data as raw volumetric water content or Percent of Field Capacity
- Configure and offload data via Bluetooth using the free HOBOconnect app
Important:
The HOBO MX2300 data loggers require the HOBOconnect App and a compatible mobile device. The system requirements for the HOBOconnect app can be found at the bottom of our HOBOconnect software page.
