OVERVIEW
Kiln thermocouples only tell you the atmosphere temperature in each zone. They don’t tell you what’s actually happening inside the product, which is what determines whether the firing specification has been met.
The PhoenixTM TS05 system solves this by travelling with the product through the kiln. Up to 20 thermocouples log the true thermal profile of the load as it moves through drying, pre-heating, firing and cooling, so you’re working from actual product data rather than assumptions about zone temperature.
Key features:
- Verifies and optimises firing cycles against true product temperature, to protect final product quality and reduce rejects
- Optional two-way RF telemetry for live monitoring and remote data logger control direct from the kiln, with mid-run adjustment where needed
- Supports kiln efficiency optimisation, including push rate, energy use and load capacity, to lift line profitability
- TS05 thermal barrier purpose-built for long firing cycles and high under-car temperatures, up to 32 hours protection at 250°C on the TS05-120
- Rated for firing processes up to approximately 1200°C (2200°F), typical of tunnel and shuttle kiln operation
Typical applications:
- Building products: brick and tile
- Sanitaryware: toilets and sinks
- Tableware: plates, teapots, vases
- Technical refractory: catalytic converters
Beyond validation, regular use supports faster fault-finding when a process issue is flagged (tracing it back to a specific kiln zone or burner), and ongoing optimisation of push rates and energy use as production conditions change.
Every kiln is different, so the TS05 system is configured to your process. Call OneTemp on 1300 768 887 to talk through your kiln and get a system built around it.

PRODUCT DETAILS
Designed for the PhoenixTM Ceramics & Brick system range, for thru-process validation in tunnel and shuttle kilns where long firing durations and high under-car temperatures rule out standard data loggers.
- PTM1200 series high-temperature data logger, accommodating up to 20 thermocouple channels in a single unit
- Robust, water-resistant machined aluminium case, built for harsh kiln environments
- Large 3.8 million data point memory, sample rate adjustable from 0.2 seconds to 1 hour, resolution 0.1°C
- Configurable 6, 10 or 20 channel versions, with thermocouple type K, N, R, S or B to match your firing specification
- User-replaceable AA lithium batteries, up to 1000 hours of operation
- Optional motion sensor on the 20 channel logger, recording movement events (such as kiln car pushes) against the temperature profile, so push events can be correlated to process location
- Bluetooth wireless data logger operation for reset and download
Thermal Barrier
The TS05 thermal barrier uses phased evaporation technology to protect the data logger through extended firing cycles, up to 32 hours at 250°C under-car temperature on the TS05-120. Detachable thermocouple sockets can be mounted remotely from the barrier, so thermocouples can be fitted quickly with minimal cable length, reducing both set-up time and thermocouple cost.
2-Way RF Telemetry
Given firing cycles that can run for days, live process visibility matters. The optional two-way RF telemetry system gives a real-time view of product or kiln temperature, so process problems can be identified and, where needed, corrected mid-run. It also allows full remote control of the data logger (start, stop, reset, download). Battery-powered wireless repeater units can be positioned along the kiln to relay data back to the monitoring PC, without infrastructure changes.
Thermocouples
Type K, N, B, R or S thermocouples in 1.5, 2 or 3mm diameter, with miniature or standard plugs. Thermocouples can be mechanically held or retained in holes to record temperatures at critical points in the load. Manufactured to ANSI MC96.1 special limits specification; type K is mineral-insulated as standard, with magnesium oxide insulation and a high-grade alloy sheath. Other insulation materials available for special applications.
Software
Thermal View Plus handles data logger set-up, profile review, analysis and reporting for the firing run, plus real-time RF telemetry monitoring where fitted. User-defined kiln zones and features let you see how the profile changes through each phase of the firing process, so problems can be traced back to a specific kiln location or root cause.
