High-performance fibre optic pyrometer

The FibreCube provides fast and precise temperature measurements in demanding applications.

Measurements as low as 100°C are possible, with a response time of just 1 ms. The sensing head contains no electronics, and may be used in ambient temperatures of up to 150°C with no need for cooling.

Very small objects can be measured. A measurement spot as small as 0.4 mm is available with standard optics, and even smaller with special optics.

For measuring small targets at long distances, the FibreCube is the most capable of any Calex sensor, with measured spot sizes as small as 6 mm at 1 metre distance.

A built-in bright green LED aiming light illuminates the exact size and location of the measured spot, so the sensor is easy to aim with total precision.

The fibre optic cable is made to order, with lengths of up to 10 m or 28 m available depending on the model. The length can be specified to the nearest metre.

All models can measure through glass or quartz viewport windows.

Features

  • Temperature ranges from 100°C to 2,000°C
  • Miniature fibre optic sensing head for ambient temperatures up to 150°C
  • Choice of precision optics and through-lens LED aiming light
  • Extremely fast 1 ms response time
  • Short measurement wavelength for improved performance on reflective metal surfaces, compared with general-purpose models
  • 4-20 mA, voltage, alarm outputs
  • RS-232 communications
  • Optional display and configuration unit

Target size and distance are critical to accuracy for most IR thermometers

Each optics option is available for one FibreCube temperature range only (M, L, or H). For example: for FC-AM sensors, choose from the “M” optics. Note: Smaller measured spot sizes are available. If these options are not suitable, contact Calex to discuss special optics. The given measured spot size contains 90% of the energy detected by the sensor. We normally recommend the target is at least twice as large as the given measured spot for maximum accuracy. Accuracy specifications are valid up to the maximum distances shown.

Touch Screen Interface

Optional wall-mounted display, data logging, configuration and alarm unit for FibreCube sensor

  • Read the temperature
The large, bright backlit temperature display is visible from a distance and turns red in an alarm condition.
  • Record the temperature history
See a graph of the measured temperature, and log more than a year of data to a single MicroSD Card. The data is stored in a simple text format that can be imported easily into Excel.
  • Configure the sensor
All the sensor’s configuration settings can be adjusted via the intuitive touch screen interface.
  • Trigger temperature alarms
Two alarms are individually configurable as high, low, band or error. The screen turns bright red to signal an alarm condition, and the built-in 24 V, 1 A relay outputs can be connected directly to alarm sounders and beacons.
  • Accurate measurements, even with reflections of hot objects
Place the sensor outside an oven or furnace and accurately measure the temperature of objects inside by using the Reflected Energy Compensation feature.
