The MX2311 measures both: total solar irradiance via an integrated LI-COR LI-200R pyranometer, and soil EC, VWC and soil temperature via an external LI-300/350 soil sensor, with internal temperature and RH rounding out the picture.

Volumetric water content tells you whether the root zone has enough water; soil EC tells you whether dissolved salts in that water are becoming a problem. Paired with solar and climate data, the logger supports calculated metrics including accumulated solar radiation, Daily Light Integral, VPD and dew point, so above and below-ground conditions can be assessed from one dataset instead of cross-referencing multiple instruments.

Configuration and data offload run through the HOBOconnect app over Bluetooth (up to 100 ft range), suited to microclimate studies, energy and renewables research, and agricultural or ecological monitoring across remote or hard-to-access sites.

Key features

Research-grade solar radiation measurement via an integrated LI-COR LI-200R sensor

Soil EC, volumetric water content and soil temperature via an external LI-300/350 soil sensor

Internal temperature and RH, enabling on-device VPD and dew point calculation

IP67-rated weatherproof housing, built for humid, wet or dusty environments

User-replaceable battery, up to 2+ years typical life

Configurable alarms flag out-of-range readings on the logger LED and in the app

Configure and offload data via Bluetooth using the free HOBOconnect app

Important:

The HOBO MX2300 data loggers require the HOBOconnect App and a compatible mobile device.
